ABOUT TELEVISION ADVERTISEMENTS
Television advertisement,
the first time there July 1, 1941 in the United States when Bulova Watch
Company paid $ 9 to New York City NBC, to play their product spot for 20
seconds, before serving a baseball game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the
Philadelphia Phillies. The appearance
of the first advertisement continued to other commercials followed, and
eventually spread to all parts of the world. Television ads are also more
varied. Currently, television ads comercial ad could be purely political,
sponsorship, or bahlan promo event / television program. Both of destination,
type and appearance in accordance with technological progress animation,
graphics and sound effects. Transit is also kept rising. If in 1941 for 20
seconds only $ 9, this time for the same duration could reach pululan million
dollars.
There
is a discussion about wether advertisement should be banned from television or
not.
Television
advertising has advantages over audio visual effects. And it impact the process
of catching messages and making consumer’s or television viewers decision. Advertising through television could really
commercial, just information or even be used for political purposes.
People
who is pro with television advertisements said that television
advertisement have in terms of cost efficiency.
This is based on
millions of television viewers who
regularly watch the commercials. This raises the efficiency of mass coverage
cost to reach
each head. Television
advertisement is more efisien, because it can get more viewers in a short time
than the other media such as newspaper, poster, radio, etc.
People
who is contra with television advertisement feel that advertisement distrube the running program on TV. But, Television
program need a sponsor, and the organisation or producen who conveys a message
can be a sponsor for the TV progam. Without a sponsor how can a program be
there in TV? More long ads’s duration
or more much the TV ads is mean that the program in the TV is good. The good
program need a much sponsors. Better
the program is delayed by the ads, or there is not a good program in TV because
there isn’t a sponsor? In other, it
is impossible if we watching a TV’s program without a rest, watching on direct
time. We can’t just watching a TV program, there are many information we must
konw and can get from the TV ads.
Television advertisements
also have disadvantages, make the viewers become consumtif. But, we know that
is the goal of the ads, influence the viewers.
And not all the advertisements make
the viewers become consumtif, because not all the ads is about a product, but
there are some ads that wants to give us an information such as pemilu
sosialisation, preventing fever, aves influenza virus antisipation, and ect.
Other example is make us selectif for choosing a candidate.
There are some advertisements that is not good to be view by the
children. But, TV
ads is given a trying test time, and if it can’t pass the trying test so the
license will be taken off. Publishing
advertisements is done based the publising time. For example make a limitation
ads in a program that appropiated for the children and when is the time. So the
publising ads is appropiated to the target. For
example smoke product, they must mention a warning based on government’s law,
and just publish at 9 pass a half pm up to 5 am based the government’s
decision.
There is an argument to answer the contra
people’s statement that TV advertisement need more much cost (for artist and
media time). A big cost which is needed means that the object have a good
quality. So it is depend by the organisation or producen who publish the
advertisements. Publishing advertisements on TV is guaranted because the power
: the interesting of audio visual. And the cost won’t be in vain because will
be many people who interested with the ads.
Audience
of television more non-selective than to the news and magazines that
the segmentation is more sharp. Segmentation is
not as sharp as newspapers
and magazines. So
the advertisement aired on television have the
possibility of market spread inappropriaticaly. If the
advertisementsi are publised quiqly, it could be published repeatly to make the
viewers understand with the advertisements.
Some people said
that TV advertisement is not efective because TV signal can’t reach to all
region, and they should make an
advertisement in printed media,.
organisation or business have a target of the advertisement. If it for in the
corner region, they will make an ads in other media so they can view the
advertisement. Publising in TV also necessary, people who view the TV
advertisement can give the information to other people by interaction in
communication daily life.
It also not efective because not all people have
a TV because its high cost. Right, not all people have a television. But in
fact, many people have a TV, and it more many than people that don’t have a TV.
Every problem
about television advertising have a solution. Not all advertisements collide with ethic, just some advertisement,
and it was be KPI’s responsible. KPI will do something to the TV advertisements
that collide with ethic. KPI should be more careful and distinct on
advertisement so there is’t a ads that collide with ethic. And then about time,
TV advertisement should be shorter in duration, so it can decrease in
distrubing the viewers when wathcing TV program. Advertisment should not be ban
from TV program.
